I don’t like Oprah
According to the Drudge Report, Oprah Winfrey will not have Sarah Palin on her show even though she had Obama on twice. Drudge claimed that there was turmoil inside Oprah's staff over Palin. Apparently, half wanted her on half did not. Oprah and her executive producer, Sheri Salata, are both big supports of the Democrat's nominee.
According to ABC News, she issued the following statement: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
It is her show and she can do what she wants. I don't watch her show, although if she were to have Palin on, I would make a point of tuning in for that episode. However, I think it is a bit hypocritical for her to say she doesn't want to use her show as a platform for a candidate when clearly that is why she had that other guy on. He appeared in January 2005 and again in October 2006. Technically, he had not formally announced his run for president, but eveyone, including Oprah, new he was running in October 2006.
Doesn't Oprah often showcase powerful and successful women? Palin definitely fits that bill. Interviewing Palin would not constitute an endorsement of her. She could, and I hope she would, ask Gov. Palin tough questions that are important to her audience.
McCain Palin ‘08
Last night Palin rocked! Rudy's was great, too. I am looking forward to McCain tonight.
Palin and Rudy both had a lot of good lines. Maybe if I get some time tomorrow I will post some of my favorites, like "Change is not a destination just as hope is not a strategy."
Over 37 million tuned in to hear Palin. Hopefully even more will tune in for McCain.
