King Kong Racist?
Is King Kong Racist? Apparently Jim Pinkerton, a writer for NEWSDAY, asks this in a recent column. I don’t know if King Kong is a metaphor for the black slave trade, but there is something disturbing in his column.
He states: ‘Indeed, a GOOGLE search using the words “King Kong racism” yielded 490,000 hits.’
How in the world does he think this has anything to do with his argument? Too many people now accept what they read on the Internet (or receive through chain email) as the truth. Just because someone says it, types it, prints it, etc. does not make it true.
I did a Google search on the terms ’stupid movie reviewers’ and got 455,000 hits. ‘Jim Pinkerton bad movie reviewer’ yielded 118,000 hits. All these web site must know something, mustn’t they?
The words ‘Wilma Flintstone crack ho’ resulted in 141,000 hits. Who knew? But, apparently she got help because ‘Wilma Flintstone Betty Ford’ gave me 302,000 hits and ‘Wilma Flintstone 12 step program’ got 228,000.
If you do a search on the word ‘liar’ the first result is a link to the biography of British Prime Minister Tony Blair. If it’s on Google, it must be true… There must be more smart people than dumb people, because ’smart’ yields 261 million to ‘dumb’ with 31 million. Google knows everything.
