Bush vs Kerry – Revisited

Bush won. I know many on the far left refuse to believe it, but Bus won, twice.

USA Today recently revisited the vote in Ohio and looked at the votes base on the religious nature of the voters. USA Today, with their charts and graphs, have succeeding in creating a “sound bite” in newspaper reporting. For those with short attention spans and those that don’t care to know the whole story can simply check out the graphs.

There were some interesting tidbits in this USA Today article. In Ohio, those that attend church at least once a week voted for Bush over Kerry by a 2 to 1 margin, while those that never attend church supported Kerry by about the same margin. Those that attend church “a few times a month” split down the middle 50-50 in their support.

When asked what their religion was, Catholics and Protestants supported Bush about 55 -45 and the voters that answered “None” or “Something Els” supported Kerry by at least 2 to 1.
If they had done this survey here in Alabama, I’m sure the results would have been similar. The only difference may be that Bush may have gotten even more support from Christians.
While we are free to worship as we see fit in this country, it says a lot Christians overwhelmingly supported Bush. Those with strong moral compasses find traits like honesty and trustworthiness as important traits in our leaders. Those supporting the you-make-up-your-own-moral-values-as-you-go-along group seem to care more about things like “What are you going to give me?”

Pat Robertson yesterday (Aug 22) was way out line when he called for the US to “take out” the leader of Venezuela. As bad a person as Hugo Chavez is, Mr. Robertson’s statements were not in keeping with his own religious teachings. What could he have been thinking?
